Conceptually, my scholarship explores the relationships among work, political understanding, and collective action. My current primary research project is a SSHRC funded study of different forms of organizing and the development of critical, political consciousness among retail workers. I also am exploring horse cultures, animal work, and public policy, analyzing how hierarchies (as conceptualized and as practiced) affect and/or intersect with animals' and people's lives.

Research Areas:
Political consciousness and collective action; agency and organizing; retail workers and social change; gender and class; horse cultures and equestrian labour; the nature/labour nexus and animal work; anti-poverty work; political labour, culture, and economy; politics and/as learning

Geographic areas:

Canada; Ontario; Cuba
