About the IMS Centre

ims logoThe IMS Centre was established at the University of Windsor in 1994 and comprises three state of the art research laboratories dealing with product design, manufacturing systems design and operation and intelligent automation. Current research includes:
  • Flexible, Reconfigurable and Changeable Manufacturing Systems
  • Rapid Product Design, Prototyping, Reverse Engineering and Inspection
  • Simulation, Quality, Cost, Products and Systems Life-Cycle
  • Process Planning
  • Production Planning
  • Robotics and Control
The IMS Centre participates in national and international research projects.

iwb logoThe Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Technische Universität München (TUM) was founded in 1875 and is comprised of the Chair of Assembly Technology and Industrial Management and the Chair of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology. The iwb is one of the largest production technology institutes in Germany. The fields of research at the iwb include:
  • Supply Chains
  • Changeable Production Systems
  • Virtual Production
  • Mechatronics
  • Structural Behavior of Machine Tools
  • Micro assembly
  • Bonding and Friction Stir Welding
  • Rapid Manufacturing
