The Campus Police Community Advisory Committee (CP-CAC) is an official advisory committee at the University of Windsor. The mission of the CP-CAC is to assure the Campus Community Police Service remains responsive to the needs of the campus and local community and to provide the campus community with regular input on issues surrounding crime abatement, law enforcement, public safety and emergency preparedness. The major role of the CP-CAC is advisory and consultative. In accordance with the University of Windsor Security and Policing Policy adopted January 28, 2003, the CP-CAC assists Campus Community Police to follow “a pro-active community based approach, working in close partnership with the community in the development and execution of programs. This includes the establishment of appropriate community advisory boards and committees with broad representation from the community to provide advice/input and accountability on service programs”.

Typical functions of the CP-CAC include:

• Receiving comments & suggestions from the public at large,
• Facilitating communication between relevant parties, especially the Campus Community Police Service & the local community,
• Offering information related to crime abatement, law enforcement, public safety & emergency preparedness,
• Supporting measures that enhance the foundations of safety & security upon which the university is built,
• Empower the public in the spirit of community oriented problem solving to assist the Campus Community Police Service in its endeavor to better serve the community.
