The University of Windsor offers entrance awards to students entering directly from Canadian high schools, and in-course awards to students in their second year and beyond, based on consideration of at least one of the following attributes: academic merit, financial need, school involvement. Although part-time job opportunities on campus assist students who have financial need, bursaries and can help students from acquiring large debt-load at graduation.
According to a Statistics Canada 2002 Youth In Transition Survey, “finances” were the number one reason cited by those who did not pursue post-secondary education. The report also stated that “46 percent of those who had no post-secondary education listed finances as a primary barrier.” For this reason, the University has continued its focus upon creating and raising dollars to support its Scholarships and Bursaries. |
