Strategic Directions for Information Technology
at the University of Windsor

White Paper

(November, 1999)

I. Preamble

The
Green Paper on Proposed Issues and Recommendations (Toward the Development of an Information Technology Strategic Plan for the University of Windsor), issued in May 1999, was the initial response to the call for a five-year plan for comprehensive computer support on the campus ["The Best of Both Worlds" A Blueprint for Affirmation and Renewal of the University of Windsor]. The Green Paper presented the information technology (IT) vision and mission statements, identified key issues and proposed a planning structure. The University-wide IT Advisory Committee consulted extensively, through notices in the Daily News, the Beefs and Bouquets hotline, two open fora and presentations to a variety of campus groups. This White Paper, based on recommendations presented in the Green Paper, proposes a strategy for directing IT at the University and presents the principles guiding it.
