University email system delays Resolved
(Thursday, March 4, 2010)
Update - Saturday, March 6, 2010:
The email system problems that have occurred over the past two days are now resolved. Email delivery onto campus is occurring again with minor delay.
A daily summary (digest) of messages captured in the Spam Quarantine will continue to be emailed to users as before. The spamq website (https://spamq.uwindsor.ca) is also operational. There are some quarantined messages that are listed on the spamq website or in your digest which will require intervention by IT Services staff to be viewed online. If there are any messages which you would like to receive that are not viewable online from within the spamq website, please contact the IT Services Helpdesk at x-4440.

Update - Friday March 5, 2010:
As of late evening March 4th, all mail coming from off-campus and between the student webmail system and the faculty/staff Lotus Notes systems is being delivered.
There is still an issue with the spam filter quarantine digest. Some quarantine digests that are normally delivered in the morning are being delayed. These digests will be sent when all issues have been resolved.
---------------------------------------
Since late in the day on March 3, 2010, the University has been experiencing delays (multiple hours) in receiving email. Email sent from off-campus / internet and email going between faculty/staff (Lotus Notes) and the student webmail system is being delayed. Email sent within the faculty/staff system or the student webmail system is being received without delay.
IT Services staff are working on resolving the issue. In the implementation of a solution, the university's spam filter is also off-line. People cannot retrieve email or access the spam filter system at this time.
Time change: Spam Filter Unavailable Thursday, March 4 from 11:00 a.m. - 2 p.m.

On Thursday, March 4, from 11:00 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m. access to the Spam filter (https://spamq.uwindsor.ca/) will not be available in order to perform an emergency update to this email system. After the upgrade is completed, it is expected that affected users will receive a longer than normal digest listing on Friday morning showing emails which were caught as spam over the past 2 weeks. Email delivery is expected to continue as usual while this update occurs.
IT Services regrets this interruption in service to the spamq.

An intermittent issue, which causes the wireless network to be unreliable for several hours each occurrence, will be diagnosed in coordination with vendor support during this time.
