Windsor Law Third Overall at 2010 Gale Moot Competition

Congratulations to the 2010 Gale Cup Moot Team under the direction of Professor Larry Wilson. The team of Law III students, Lauren Wilhelm, Andrew Black, and Michael Barbero and Law II student, Joshua Ginsberg, competed against 17 Canadian Law Schools and finished third overall. The Appellant pair of Ms. Whilhem and Mr. Ginsberg advanced to the semi final round, delivering submissions before Justice Ian Binnie of the Supreme Court of Canada, Justice Stephen Goudge of the Court of Appeal for Ontario and Justice Doyon of the Quebec Court of Appeal.

The Gale Moot is a national, bilingual moot attracting every law school in the country to Osgoode Hall for two days of competition. Competitors moot a recent Supreme Court decision generally in the area of criminal or constitutional law. This year’s problem was R. v. Illes which dealt with a problematic charge to the jury and the failure of the Crown to disclose information in the course of a gruesome murder trial.

Congratulations to the entire team on a job well done!
