General Social Survey – Victimisation Module
The GSS is an annual survey; the Victimisation module is repeated every 5 years. The most recent data is from the 2009 survey. It includes a detailed section of questions on physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse by current and former partners. Also see the Violence Against Women Survey, 1993. Some of the questions from this survey were incorporated into the later GSS modules on victimisation.
Data can be accessed at ODESI.
National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth
Only current national survey specifically targeting children. Collects data from both parent and child on a variety of measures, including hitting and other punitive behaviour, and bullying. The longitudinal design means that effects can be tracked over many years.
