Special Event

Throughout his life, Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish has been a passionate advocate for peace between Israelis and Palestinians, a force channeled through his work in obstetrics and his commitment to public health issues. Speaking both Arabic and Hebrew, until last year he lived in Gaza, and commuted to work at an Israeli hospital. In January of 2009, an Israeli rocket struck his home, killing three of his children. Despite this enormous personal loss, Dr. Abuelaish remains committed to the cause of peace.
