Business prof recognized for auto industry expertise
When reporters want to understand what's going on in the auto industry, they talk to business professor Tony Faria. His reputation as a knowledgeable source earned him the Kevin Doyle Award for Faculty Service to the Media at Wednesday's holiday luncheon.
"He is quoted all over the country," Windsor Star editorial page editor John Coleman said. "Over the past couple of years, his name has appeared in the Star 180 times."
The award—selected by a poll of local journalists—recognizes a faculty member who has provided outstanding service in sharing expert observations and information with the news media, promoting the profile and reputation of the University of Windsor.
"I can't think of somebody who has done a better job of that than Tony," Coleman said. "I certainly voted for him."
Dr. Faria said he enjoys his interactions with media.
"It has been a real pleasure representing the University of Windsor in the community," he said.
The award, formerly known as the President's Faculty Award for Service to the Media, was re-named this year to honour recently retired Public Affairs and Communications executive director Kevin Doyle for his contributions to the University.

Windsor Star editorial page editor John Coleman and UWindsor President Alan Wildeman flank Tony Faria, winner of this year's Kevin Doyle Award for Faculty Service to the Media.
