Dramatic reading to wrestle with questions of faith
Students and faculty of the School of Dramatic Art hope to spark discussion when they present a reading of On Religion on Sunday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in the Studio Theatre, Jackman Dramatic Art Centre.
The play, by Mick Gordon and A.C. Grayling, centres on a secularist mother and her son, who feels a vocation to the priesthood. The authors consulted with a number of experts, from Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, to sceptic Richard Dawkins, Muslim thinker Tariq Ramadan, and the first woman rabbi in the United Kingdom, Julia Neuberger.
The reading will be conducted by drama students along with instructors Erica Stevens-Abbitt and Simon du Toit. Admission is free and open to the public; the reading will be followed by a discussion which invites audience participation.
