March Break program provides mentoring to Aboriginal youth

A teepee outside the Turtle Island house yesterday drew a lot of curious looks. It was set up by—and for—a group of Aboriginal students from local high schools, on campus for a March Break program run by the Aboriginal Education Centre.~
The centre's director, Russell Nahdee, said the idea was to make them familiar with the University of Windsor.
"This March Break experience will bring them here and let them see what's going on," Nahdee said. "We have knowledgeable people teaching them about setting up the teepee. We'll explore some of our oral traditions and have them talk with career planners."
The four-day program included social activities, mentoring sessions, and university-level workshops and lectures. |
