New role a homecoming for research funding officer

Getting used to her new job in the Office of Research Services was easy for Inga Sliskovic, who completed her doctorate in biochemistry at the University of Windsor in 2007.

"After spending five years here, I know a lot of faculty already," says Dr. Sliskovic. She joined the staff July 19 as research funding officer for the areas of natural sciences and engineering. "It was a really easy transition back."

Following her graduation, she worked at the University of Michigan as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow and became a research associate in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University. That background will prove valuable in her new role.

"I saw this as a great opportunity because my first-hand experience as a researcher allows me to empathize with the researchers here," says Sliskovic. "I am here to help researchers identify funding opportunities and to obtain the funding they require to conduct their investigations. The researchers at the University of Windsor work very hard and they deserve as much support and recognition as we can provide."

She encourages faculty members to contact her at inga@uwindsor.ca or 519-253-3000, ext. 3918, for assistance in preparing grant applications, meeting funding agency guidelines, and searching for additional funding sources to facilitate their research programs.

Her colleague, Anna Ziolecki, is available to assist researchers in the social sciences, humanities, and health areas. Contact her at azioleck@uwindsor.ca or
