Welcoming Convocation to bring together incoming class
Welcoming Convocation, today at 3 p.m. in the St. Denis fieldhouse, will gather first-year students by program for a ceremony inducting them into campus life. A banner celebrating the incoming class will be raised and one lucky student will win a semester's free tuition courtesy of the Alumni Association—but the winner must be present to claim the prize.
Windsor Welcome Week continues today with program orientation for first-year students in venues across campus. Need 4 Speed will introduce university services in a no-pressure environment, from 9:45 to 11 a.m. in the CAW Student Centre.
Café Chez Vanier dining hall hosts a Dinner Hour Magic Show at 5 p.m. The play Single & Sexy invites you to share in the lives of eight students as they progress through their first year of university life. Hosted by the Campus Safety Audit Committee, the School of Dramatic Art, and the Educational Development Centre, at 7 p.m. in the St. Denis Centre.
Other events this week include:
- Thursday, September 9. First day of classes. Grab some freebies at the Vendor Fair in the CAW Student Centre courtyard, watch bachelors and bachelorettes seek love through the Dating Game, and check out activities all day long.
- Friday, September 10. Join the Campus Community Clean-up, listen to the competitors in UWindsor Idol, then head to a Detroit Tigers baseball game.
- Saturday, September 11. Shinerama Shine Day. From 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., UWindsor students will participate in the largest post-secondary fundraiser in Canada, taking their shoe-shining skills to the streets of Windsor to benefit cystic fibrosis charities. The Lancer Loot auction will allow students to turn in their Welcome Week participation ballots for some really great prizes.
