Dynamite weekend of varsity sport opens with a bang

A thrilling weekend for Lancer fans got off to an exciting start yesterday as two Windsor athletes earned medals at the 2010 Canadian Interuniversity Sport Track and Field National Championships.

Anthony Dandie won silver in the men's pentathlon and Noelle Montcalm took the bronze in the women's 60m sprint.

Dandie finished behind Chris Crossley of the University of Saskatchewan, whose 4126 points set a St. Denis Centre record. Sam Effah of the University of Calgary set a CIS record with his 6.57 second time in the men's 60m.

On the women's side, two athletes won CIS gold in their events for the third straight year—Laval’s Geneviève Thibault in the 60m and Western’s Jen Cotten in the pentathlon.
