SOCIAL WORK
THE MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK DEGREE
The Master of Social Work program consists of two degree track options. A two-year MSW program is offered for students with a four-year honours degree in a related social science discipline or helping profession. Candidates for the two-year program will be considered on the basis of their academic background and standing. Applicants for the two-year program are strongly encouraged to have completed course work in the social and behavioural sciences. Candidates entering the two-year program are expected to complete the program in two years of full-time study over six consecutive semesters.
A one-year MSW program is offered for students with an honours B.S.W. degree from a Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work accredited or recognized equivalency program. Candidates entering the one-year program will be expected to complete the program in one-year of full-time study over three consecutive semesters or two years of part-time study over six consecutive semesters.

Admission Requirements

wo-year full-time Master of Social Work Program
: Applicants may be admitted into the first year of the two-year full-time M.S.W. program provided they have satisfactorily completed a four-year honours undergraduate degree in a related social science discipline or helping profession from the University of Windsor or an approved university, and have maintained a cumulative average of B in their undergraduate work.
One-year full-time Master of Social Work Program
: Applicants may be admitted into the one-year full-time M.S.W. program provided they have satisfactorily completed a B.S.W. from an accredited program, and have maintained a cumulative average of B.
Applicants to the two-year program will be expected to demonstrate awareness of contemporary social issues, effective communication, and motivation toward professional social work. Applicants to the one-year program must indicate their interest in pursuing an Advanced Practice Internship or Thesis option.
Master of Social Work - On-Campus
2008-2010 Two-Year Full-time M.S.W.
This program takes two years (five semesters) to complete and includes a required practicum in the first year of study and the completion of an Advanced Practice Internship (API) in the second year of study. The practicum and the API may involve travel and/or weekend hours, and students are responsible for transportation to and from their field placement or internship location.
Students are required to complete a total of eleven (11) courses, one of which is a practicum in the first year of study: 47-503, 47-504, 47-523, 47-531, 47-532, 47-533, 47-534, 47-547, 47-550, 47-570, and, 47-571(Foundation Year Practicum – 6.0 credits). Students are required to complete a total of seven (7) courses, one of which is an internship in the second year of study: 47-610, 47-611, 47-621, 47-622, 47-640, 47-680, and 47-681 (Advanced Practice Internship – 6.0 credit).
2008-2009 One-Year Full-time M.S.W.
This program takes one year (three semesters) to complete and includes the completion of an Advanced Practice Internship (API). The API may involve travel and/or weekend hours, and students are responsible for transportation to and from their internship location.
Students are required to complete a total of seven (7) courses, one of which is an Internship: 47-620, 47-621, 47-622, 47-630, 47-640, 47-680, and, 47-681 (Advanced Practice Internship – 6.0 credit).
2009-2010 One-Year Full-time M.S.W. *
*This program will start in Intersession
May, 2009
in order for students to graduate at June Convocation.

Students are required to complete a total of ten (10) courses, one of which is an Internship: 47-547, 47-515, 47-523, 47-610, 47-611, 47-621, 47-622, 47-640, 47-680, and 47-681 (Advanced Practice Internship – 6.0 credit).
Master of Social Work - Off-Campus
2008-2010 Two-Year Full-time M.S.W.

Students are required to complete a total of nine (9) courses, one of which is an internship in the second year of study: 47-523, 47-547, 47-610, 47-611, 47-621, 47-622, 47-640, 47-680, and 47-681 (Advanced Practice Internship – 6.0 credit).
