Academic Dates:
The following includes the academic dates for both undergraduate and graduate programs.

(January 2009 - August 2009)

January 2, 2009University offices reopen.

January 5All classes begin, day and evening. Field work begins in Social Work.

January 16Last day of registration, change of courses and full refund for Winter term courses, day and evening.

January 23Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase I (100% tuition fee refund).

January 30Last day for application to Level 3 in Social Work.

January 30Last day for reversal of incidental fees for course withdrawal.

February 13 Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase II (50% tuition refund).

February 16Family Day holiday: University Closed

February 17 – 20Study week for all faculties except Consecutive Bachelor of Education and Law. Field work continues for Social Work

February 20University Offices closed, except Education and Law.

February 23-27Study week for Law

February 27Law Offices Closed

March 1Last day to file an application for Spring graduation.

March 13Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Winter term courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate. Last day for partial tuition refund.

April 3Last day of classes, day and evening, except Consecutive Bachelor of Education. Field work ends in Social Work.

April 6-9 and 13-18Winter term final examinations, except Consecutive Bachelor of Education and Law.

April 9Last day of classes for Law

April 10Good Friday: University Closed

April 12Easter Sunday

April 13Winter term final examinations begin for Law
Deadline for recommending a PhD external examiner for students who plan to graduate at Spring Convocation.

April 30Intersession, 12-week session, Summer Session and Summer Co-op fees are due.

May 11Intersession, 12-week session and Summer Co-op terms begin. Consolidation begins for the Faculty of Nursing.

May 15Last day for late registration, change of course and full refund for Intersession courses.

May 18Victoria Day (statutory holiday). No classes.

May 22Last day for registration, change of course and full-refund for 12-week session and Summer Co-op. Last day for reversal of incidental fees for 6-week Intersession courses.

May 25Last day for oral defense of dissertations, theses and major papers for Spring Convocation.

June 1Last day to deposit dissertations, theses and major papers for Spring Convocation (graduate degrees). Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase I (100% tuition refund).

June 5Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Intersession courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate. Last day for partial tuition refund for Intersession courses. Last day for reversal of incidental fees for 12-week and Summer Co-op courses.

June 17, 18, 19Spring Convocation.

June 22Intersession classes end.

June 22-26Mid-term break for 12-week and Summer Co-op.

June 25-27Intersession examinations.

June 26Last day for completion of all requirements for graduate degrees under Phase II (50% tuition refund).

July 1Canada Day (statutory holiday). University closed.

July 6Summer Session classes begin.

July 10Last day for Summer Session late registration, course changes and full tuition refund.

July 17Last day to voluntarily withdraw from 12-week session and Summer Co-op term courses. Last day to receive partial tuition refund for 12-week session and Summer Co-op term courses. Last date for reversal of incidentals for 6-week Summer School session.

July 31Last day to voluntarily withdraw from Summer Session courses. After this date students remain registered in courses and receive final grades as appropriate. Last day for partial refund from Summer Session courses.

August 1Last day to file application for Fall graduation.

August 3Civic Holiday (statutory holiday). No classes.

August 12 Deadline for recommending a PhD external examiner for students who plan to graduate at Fall Convocation.

August 14Last day of classes 12-week session, and Summer Co-op term.

August 14Fall term fees are due and payable.

August 17Last day of classes for Summer School.
