General History

Total courses: thirty.

Major requirements: twelve courses, consisting of:
(a) two 100-level courses;
(b) 43-200 and 43-302;
(c) five additional courses at the 200 level or above;
(d) three more courses at the 300 level or above.

Option requirements: six courses including
(a) two courses from Arts;
(b) two courses from Languages or Science;
(c) two courses from any area of study, excluding Social Sciences.

Other requirements:
(a) 01-150, 01-151**;
(b) four courses from any area of study, including History, but of which only one may be an additional 100-level History course;
(c) six courses from any area of study, excluding History.

**Students who have completed a minimum of twenty semester courses prior to Fall 2008 are not required to take 01-150 and 01-151. Such students, who opt not to take 01-150 and 01-151, will be required to substitute any two courses from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, for which they are eligible.

Up to four of the following courses may be used to satisfy the Major requirements for any History degree: 12-262, 12-263, 12-271, 12-272, 24-130, 24-230, 40-240, 40-241, 95-240, 01-252. (Please note, instructor's permission may be required.) No more than one of this list may be used to satisfy the requirements for a Minor in History.
