The University of Windsor's Leddy Library invites applications for a tenure-track Information Literacy Librarian position, commencing July 1, 2007. Rank will be commensurate with experience. The Leddy Library is an active partner in teaching and research at the University. Librarians engage in service to the University, service to the profession and research/scholarship/creative activity in addition to their assigned responsibilities. Reporting to the Head, Information Services, the successful candidate will be an innovative, dynamic, team-oriented professional expected to contribute to information literacy, reference and collection development services as well as to the overall planning and management of library services and provincial/national consortia activities.

The primary focus of this position will be participation in the Library’s innovative information literacy programme. As a member of the Information Literacy Working Group, the successful candidate will contribute significantly to the provision of a learning-centred, critical thinking-based information literacy programme to the University of Windsor community.

Responsibilities in this respect include contributing to: the development and implementation of the Library’s Learning Commons; the development of programmes that integrate information literacy skills into the University’s curriculum; the development of appropriate information literacy assessment tools; the provision of pedagogical support for the delivery of information literacy instruction and for the effective use of instructional technology; and the development of library policies and staff development programmes that support the Library’s information literacy objectives.

The secondary focus of the position will relate to digital resources and services such as web development, intellectual property policy and institutional repositories including publication of digital journals and the management of a graduate e-thesis collection.

The successful candidate will possess the excellent written and verbal communication, instruction and presentation skills necessary to develop, promote and deliver effective library programmes to both onsite and remote users. He/she will also have knowledge of evolving trends in scholarly publishing, web development and design and digital publishing.

A Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited school (or equivalent qualification) is required. Demonstrated teaching ability and knowledge of, and a strong commitment to, ACRL Information Literacy Competency Standards is also required. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of teaching practices and educational technologies currently in use at post-secondary educational institutions across North America.
