Honours Modern Languages and Second-Language Education
*Students who successfully complete this degree are eligible for the Certificate in Second Language Education.
Total courses:
forty
Major requirements:
twenty-two courses, including
a) 07-120, 07-220, 07-137, 07 -237, 07-337, and 07-202 or 07-203;
b) 07-320, 07-321, 07-420;
c) six language training courses in one language option area;
d) two of the following culture and civilization courses in the chosen language option area – (15-260 and 15-261; or 21-260 and 21-261; or 23-260 and 23-261);
e) one additional culture and civilization course in the language option area;
f) two further courses from any area of Modern Languages,
excluding language training courses;
;
g) two courses in another language offered by Languages , Literatures and Cultures with which the student is unfamiliar, including Arabic, German, Italian, Japanese, Ojibwe and Spanish
Option requirements:
six courses including
(a) two courses from Social Sciences;
(b) two courses from Arts or Science;
(c) two courses from any area of study, excluding Arts.
Other requirements:
twelve
courses, including
a) five more courses from any area of study, including Modern Languages;
b) six courses from any area of study, excluding Modern Languages
(c) one course from any area of study, including Modern Languages.
