General English Language and Literature
Degree Requirements:
Total courses:
thirty.
(a) ENGL-1002, ENGL-2109, and ENGL-2119 (Students are encouraged to take ENGL-2109 and ENGL-2119 in their first year.);
(b) ENGL-2609 or ENGL-2709;
(c) one other 2000-level course;
(d) one course from each of Categories A through E.
(Only one of ENGL-3269 or ENGL-3279 counts toward Category A.);

e) two additional English courses
*If ENGL-2609 is used to satisfy both (b) above and the Category C requirement under (d), for the major requirements, the student must take one additional course under (e) to bring the total number of English courses up to the required twelve for the degree program.
**ENGL-2710, ENGL-3159, ENGL-3259, ENGL-3409, 26-345, and ENGL-4710 are all double-credit (6.0 credit) courses.**

Combined Honours English Language and Literature
Program Regulation:
Students in combined programs must complete all courses used to calculate the major average for both subject areas, and GART-1500 and GART-1510. They must also complete the degree requirements in the order presented, to a total of forty courses.
Example
: If the total course requirements add up to 43 once the requirements for the second subject area are included, the degree requirements are to be completed in the order presented, until the student reaches a total of 40 courses.

Minor Concentration: two 1000-level courses (one of which must be a literature course and excluding ENGL-1001); plus two courses from Categories A-B and two courses from Categories C-E, one of which must be at the 3000-level or above.
